It has connected cities where public transportations never been prioritized, given us the chance to explore what’s beyond our physical borders and been a leading example of what human technology can do. We go faster, we go longer and we do it like the car is just an extra limb for us.

 

But like the saying goes, freedom comes at a cost. Driving is the cause of over 5 millions accidents per year in the US alone and research has shown that 20% of the those that are fatal involves drowsy drivers. The research also shows that the risk increases during the night due to our body’s natural regulation of circadian rhythm. 

 

So we created a new function, travel companion, a built-in function in both Volvo's app and car via their voice activated multi media system. The travel companion is a number that connects you by calling to a driver in a similar situation as yourself and allows you to have a hands-free conversation. This during the hours when most of your friends and family might be asleep. With this new feature it will help drivers to keep more awareness and help them drive home safe.
